Will gains in the weight room lead to gains on the money list for Bryson?

Bryson DeChambeau had to feel like another win was ocming his way soon back in March.

His offseson plan to beef up for more size and power appear to be paying off.

In eight PGA Tour starts this season, the 26-year-old has top-fives in half of them. That includes his last three starts, which resulted in T5-2-4 at Riviera, WGC-Mexico and Arnold Palmer, respectively.

DeChambeau aims to pick up where he left off while navigating the Charles Schwab Challenge, an event that his given him some fits in recent years.

In four attempts, he missed the cut three times and finished T-42 (68-67-71-70) in 2018.

He ranks first on the PGA Tour in driving distance at 321.3 yards. That type of length isn’t as big of an asset at Colonial, though we did see Brooks Koepka bomb and gouge his way to second place in 2018 with similar driving distance.

The former SMU Mustang is eighth on Tour in sand save perentage (63.83%) and is on pace for his third straight season in the top 32 in strokes gained putting (.535).

DeChambeau’s beaten high quality fields before. He won twice in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and beat a stacked field at the 2018 Memorial.

Based on the top talent assembled this week in Texas, a win here at Hogan’s Alley could go down as his best to date.

We’ll have to see what the mad scientist has up his sleeve after three months working in the lab.
