Of those who’ve played in all three PGA Tour events since the resumption, Bryson DeChambeau is best at a cumulative 46-under-par. It’s why he’s due to turn these recent high finishes into wins. I see that finally coming to fruition at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

The 26-year-old finished T-3rd at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T-8th at the RBC Heritage and T-6th at the Travelers Championship. Eleven of his 12 rounds are under par and the 12th was even par.

He’s absolutely smoking the ball off the tee, although 426-yard drives can still turn into bogeys as he showed at the Travelers. He needs to get sharper around the greens, but he’s piling enough birdie looks to make up for it.

The first three weeks back have all been at short courses. Now, we come to a big ballpark that fits his bomb and gouge style well. DeChambeau ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee (1.098). He’s second in total strokes gained (2.102) and only trails Tyrrell Hatton. DeChambeau has 34 measured rounds by Shotlink and Hatton has 12.

DeChambeau did not play the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic. He knows how to make birdies, though, which is needed at Detroit Golf Club. He’s ninth with 4.38 birdies a round.

The SMU product is also ninth in proximity from the fairway (29’2), which means if he can drive it somewhat straight he can run away with it.

DeChambeau is going for his sixth straight top-10 dating back to February and his eighth straight cut on the PGA Tour.
