DraftKings First Round Showdown Picks: 2020 3M Open
By Hans Geevers
This Thursday, the DraftKings community will be presented with the first round of the 3M Open. Let’s take a look at the first round slate from a DFS perspective!
Before I dive into my DraftKings player selections I wanted to clearly emphasize that this article is focused on the first round showdown contest. The single round showdown contest offered by DraftKings is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional classic contest.
If you are not familiar with the Draftkings showdown contest rules I strongly suggest that you check out the DraftKings website for more details.
Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round showdown contest!
Lucas Glover $9,200
He fired a final round 62 at the 2019 3M Open on his way to an impressive seventh place finish. More recently, in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, Glover has not shot a first round score over 69.
Matthew Wolff $9,400
The 2019 3M Open champion is currently ranked twelfth in strokes gained off the tee (.596) and sixth in driving distance (312.8) on the PGA Tour. Wolff has six top 22 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a ninth place result at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January.
Troy Merritt $7,600
He has two top 22 finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour. Merritt shot a first round 69 at the Workday Charity Open two weeks ago.
Seamus Power $6,800
The Irishman has played eight first rounds on the PGA Tour this season. In those eight rounds played, Power has shot four rounds under 68, including a 67 he fired in the first round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month. Seamus also is currently ranked 10th in birdie average (4.42) on the PGA Tour.
Tom Lewis $7,100
The current 67th ranked golfer in the world has two wins on the European Tour. Additionally, Lewis won the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Championship. It should be noted that Lewis defeated some outstanding golfers in the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Championship, including Harris English and Daniel Berger.
Additionally, Lewis finished 12th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic three weeks ago.
Brice Garnett $7,100
Garnett’s average first round score in his last four PGA Tour events played is 68.5. Additionally, Garnett shot a first round 67 at the 2019 3M Open en route to an eventual 23rd place finish.
As always, good luck!
