This week, the fantasy golf community will be presented with the 2020 BMW Championship. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I dive into my fantasy selections let’s take a quick look at the golf course and some key facts regarding this week’s event.

The 2020 BMW Championship will be played at Olympia Fields Country Club (North Course). This golf course is a par 70 that measures 7,366 yards. This track features two par five holes that measure over 600 yards in length.

I think the length of this golf course suggests that driving distance is of high importance this week. Having stated that, in my opinion, if you can’t consistently hit the golf ball approximately 300 yards off the tee, you are at a substantial disadvantage on this golf course.

The BMW Championship rotates to different venues each year. Due to this fact, you won’t find a great deal of course history to evaluate as you construct player pools for DraftKings contests. However, the 2015 United States Amateur and 2003 United States Open were both played on this golf course.

For those readers that are not aware, this tournament is composed of the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup rankings. The BMW Championship will not have a traditional cut after two rounds.

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2020 BMW Championship!

Dustin Johnson $11,500

The current number one ranked golfer in the official world golf rankings has two wins on the PGA Tour in the last three months, including a win at last week’s Northern Trust. It should be noted that Johnson fired a four round score of 30 under par at the Northern Trust!

Johnson’s recent statistics on Tour are simply outstanding. Let me be more specific. In the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, in relation to the current listed 2020 BMW Championship field, Dustin ranks first in strokes gained tee to green, first in strokes gained approach, and first in strokes gained on par fives.

Daniel Berger $9,700

Berger has an impressive eight top 13 finishes in his last nine events, including a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge in June.

In relation to this week’s 2020 BMW Championship, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Berger ranks fourth in strokes gained tee to green, 10th in strokes gained approach, and third in strokes gained on par fives.

Harris English $8,300

English has eight top 18 finishes in his last ten tournaments on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the Northern Trust last week.

Jason Kokrak $7,500

The American arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two top 15 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at last week’s Northern Trust.

In relation to the current listed 2020 BMW Championship, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Kokrak ranks seventh in strokes gained tee to green and fifth in proximity to the hole from over 200 yards.

Tyler Duncan $6,400

He has two consecutive top 29 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the Wyndham Championship two weeks ago.

Robby Shelton $6,400

The 24 year old has two top 13 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the 3M Open last month.

As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
