Fantasy golf fans will be happy to hear that Draftkings has a large number of first round showdown contests for this week’s 2020 BMW Championship! Let’s take a look at the showdown slate from a DFS perspective!

Before I discuss my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections I wanted to clearly emphasize that this article is focused on the first round showdown contest. The single round showdown contest offered by Draftkings is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional classic contest.

For those readers that are not aware, the classic contest offered by Draftkings focuses on an entire golf tournament. In direct contrast to the classic contest, the showdown contest is focused on only one round.

If you have additional questions regarding the single round showdown contest I highly recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

Here are my fantasy golf player selections for the first round showdown contest!

Harris English $8,700

The 31 year old American currently ranks first in opening round scoring average (68.11), fifth in par four scoring average (3.94), 12th in GIR (greens in regulation-71.41%), and sixth in actual scoring average (68.99) on the PGA Tour.

It should also be noted that English has shot a first round score of 64 in his last two events on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods $8,500

The 15-time major winner fired a first round 68 and a final round 66 at last week’s Northern Trust. Yes, I know Tiger’s scores in round two and three were not as good. However, in my opinion, Tiger’s overall game is trending in the positive direction. Having stated that, I am willing to take the risk of playing Woods in my Draftkings first round showdown lineup this week. Let’s us not forget that Tiger is arguably the best golfer to have ever played the game.

Viktor Hovland $8,300

The 22 year old has played 18 events on the PGA Tour this season. In those 18 events played, Hovland has eight top 25 finishes, including a third place finish at the Workday Charity Open in July.

Hovland has played eight first rounds on the PGA Tour since the RBC Heritage in June. In those eight first rounds played, Hovland’s average first round score was 67.87.

Kevin Kisner $8,000

Kisner arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top four finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the Wyndham Championship earlier this month.

Matthew Wolff $7,900

The 21 year old American has played four tournaments on the PGA Tour since the 3M Open in July. In those four events played, Wolff’s first round scores were: 65, 69, 69, and 65.

Brendan Steele $6,700

Steele shot a first round 66 at the PGA Championship on his way to an eventual 22nd place finish earlier this month. In my opinion, Steele presents outstanding fantasy golf value at a Draftkings price of only $6,700.

As always, good luck with your fantasy golf lineups!
