It’s the end of the 2020 season, which means that it is time to wrap up the FedEx Cup and watch the Tour Championship.

Other than the gap due to the shutdown that occurred in the middle of the season, 2020 has been great for golf. If anything, we hope that the Tour Championship will continue that trend.

It all comes down to this, and you will notice that as players tee off on Friday, it’s going to look more like a Sunday on the leaderboard as compared to the regular opening round of a tournament.

That’s because those who are at even will tee off first, slowly going up the leaderboard until we get to Jon Rahm at -8 and Dustin Johnson at -10.

Is that going to make a difference as to who the group here at Pro Golf Now thinks is going to win the Tour Championship?

Let’s find out. Here are the staff picks to win the Tour Championship, starting with the favorite at East Lake.

Dustin Johnson (-10)

Bill Felber – Dustin Johnson is the No. 1 player in the world, he’s finished second, first, and second in three huge recent tournaments, and on top of all that the field is spotting him two to 10 strokes.

In picking him again this week (for a third straight time), I am riffing off Damon Runyan, who I believe was riffing off Aesop’s fable of the tortoise and the hare. Runyan said of situations such as Johnson’s at East Lake, “the race is not always to the swift nor the contest to the strong…but that’s the way to bet.”

West Valentine – In a safe and uninspired pick, I’m going with Dustin Johnson. He’s so dialed in and I think the loss at the BMW will give him an edge rather than break his spirit.

Justin Thomas (-7)

Kasey Kuhrts – I’ve felt JT was going to be the FedEx Cup champion for a while. He’s been the most consistent player all year, and I think he steps up this week and wins his second FedEx Cup.

Tim Letcher – I picked him in the first two rounds and I’m picking him again this week. He has played well at East Lake in the past and I think he makes up for his past two weeks with a big effort in the Tour Championship.

Mike Randleman – In an excerpt from the weekly power rankings

“Thomas is a good course fit for East Lake if he’s driving it well. The former Alabama Crimson Tide ranks 25th in SG off the tee (.395 per round)… What makes him great is his ability to score from anywhere on the course. Thomas is first in SG approach (1.005). It seems like he hits it inside 25 feet on every hole.”

Webb Simpson (-6)

Cam Cobey – He’ll start a few strokes back, but he’s been great at East Lake in the past and has had a great season.

Collin Morikawa (-5)

Chris O’Day – I really like Morikawa, but he has a long and difficult road ahead of him at the Tour Championship. He headlined my long-shot picks this week, as I love the combination of value and talent that he brings to the event. He showed he isn’t phased when he won the PGA Championship earlier this year. I like him to make another run, this time at East Lake.

Best of luck to everyone playing at the final event of the year, and here’s to a great Tour Championship.
