Patrick Reed is a guy whose results show he’s due for a win sometime soon. The 30-year-old Texan last won in February at the WGC-Mexico Championship and has been consistent since.

Most recently, Reed is on a streak of three top-13s and 10 top-50s. He contended in his last start over on the European Tour, finishing T-3rd against a strong field at the BMW PGA Championship.

“But you know, the good thing is there’s a lot of positives this week,” Reed was quoted by ASAP Sports after Wentworth. “I felt like I did a lot of things better than I have the past couple weeks and so the things that I’m working on definitely give me confidence going forward that I’m doing the right things and going in the right direction.”

That was Reed’s only start since the U.S. Open, so I like him to be fresh for the Zozo Championship.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner has got it done in California once before at the 2014 Humana Challenge.

Last season on Tour, Reed ranked 11th in total strokes gained (1.295) despite a poor driving season. His short game was sharp as ever at 21st SG around the green (.316) and 21st in scrambling (63.64%). The types of shots he can pull off around the greens is elite.

So is his putter, which came in at 12th in SG in 2019-2020 (,599).

Reed can play well at most venues, but a shorter track like Sherwood Country Club should be a benefit.
