The Bermuda Championship is played this weekend and coincides this year with Halloween, keeping with the spooky theme here are selections for this week’s event that are not for the faint of heart!

Port Royal Golf Club hosts this week’s Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour and with heavy winds being anticipated over the weekend it could make for a terrifying week for those competing.  The spotlight event for this week on the PGA schedule will take center stage on a PAR 71 that plays as one of the shortest events all year at just over 6800 yards.

For a detailed breakdown of some of the key characteristics of this coastal course check out my article from earlier in the week Preview and Picks to win at Port Royal Golf Club.

Bold Selections at The Bermuda Championship

Wanting a flashlight for this week’s adventure at the Bermuda Championship? Then this first selection should be more to your liking. Aaron Wise +400 Top Ten Finish, The product out of Oregon University is one of the better ball strikers in the field in windy conditions and ranks second over his past 24 rounds in approaches from 100-150 yards.  It’s not all plain sailing for Wise coming into this week however as he has missed the cut in four of his last five events.

Aaron finished third at this event last season and has gained strokes in all categories except strokes gained: around the green over his last twenty rounds.  If the recent form doesn’t scare you off then back Wise this week if you dare.

Treacherous steps may ensue with this next selection in the form of Scott Piercy +1000 Top Five Finish. Scott could be a light amongst the darkness this week as he comes into this week’s Bermuda Championship on the back of a Top 20 finish in his previous start.  Piercy is 4th in the field in strokes gained: Ball Striking over the last 24 rounds and he also rates inside the top 20 in both Par 3 scoring from 200+ yards and fairways gained.

Scott’s putting performance of late is the stuff of nightmares as he has lost strokes putting in all three of his previous starts, including losing as many as three strokes on the greens at the Sanderson Farms earlier in the month.

It’s not all doom and gloom on the greens for Scott though has he ranks 7th in the field putting on slow greens across his previous 30 rounds, so don’t be too scared to side with Piercy this week for a top 5 finish.

Backing a Doug Ghim +1400 Top Five Finish is not something a sane person does and that is exactly what I’m going to suggest this week.  Ghim across his last twelve rounds ranks inside the top 20 in PAR 3 scoring from 200+ yards, strokes gained: around the green and fairways hit.

Doug’s form of late has been inconsistent however as he has produced Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde type results missing the cut in two of his last four starts and also finishing top 25 in the two events that he made the cut in those last four starts.

Flip a coin because you have a 50/50 chance that Mr. Hyde turns up this week, if luck is on your side then Ghim can finish top five at the Bermuda Championship.

Don’t close your eyes because this next selection is the scariest of the bunch. Michael Gligic +9000 first-round leader is the final addition to these risky picks. Gligic has made a habit of producing hot starts as he has been near the top of the leaderboard after day one on numerous occasions.

Don’t blink however because if you do you may notice that the Canadian has missed the cut on numerous coastal courses and his performance in the wind could leave you shook to your core.

Michael comes in this week in good form having made three of his last four cuts, that includes a top 30 finish in his last start.  Gligic ranks inside the top 20 in strokes gained: ball striking over his past 24 rounds and he has gained strokes in all categories across his last 10 rounds.

Next. The Masters: good news, bad news from Augusta on Tuesday. dark

Backing Gligic to come out of the gate on fire could burn you bad and it would take true courage to take a chance on this scary selection.

Good luck this Halloween weekend at the Bermuda Championship you’re going to need it!
