No. 8 Zach Johnson (winner in 2007)

Zach Johnson claimed his green jacket in 2007, when the weather was the big story. It was a cool and windy week at Augusta National and Johnson’s winning score was actually 1-over par for the week. That tied for the highest winning score ever in the event.

Many people just blew off this win by Johnson because of the conditions. They figured he was just a good wind player and that he would never win another major, something he proved wrong when he claimed the title at the Open Championship in 2015. That made ZJ a two-time major champion.

Overall, Johnson has won 12 times on tour, although he has not won since his triumph at the 2015 Open. So, he’s not exactly coming into the event on a hot streak.

But here’s where Johnson could have an advantage. He won in cool, windy conditions in 2007. With the Masters being played in November, it very well could be windy and cool at Augusta National again this year. If those conditions present themselves, don’t count ZJ out of the mix this week.

At 44 years old, Johnson would be one of the oldest champions in the history of the event. But don’t ever count him out because ZJ loves to prove people wrong.
