No. 8 Webb Simpson

Simpson is simply one of the best players in the game. He’s the eighth-ranked player in the world and is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour, a total that could easily be higher if he had a better playoff record (he’s 2-5 in those events).

That includes a pair of wins this season. He claimed the title at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, then won at the RBC Heritage in June.

While he has never won the Masters, Simpson has won a major championship. In 2012, he won the U.S. Open, outlasting Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson by one shot to win at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Simpson has had some success at Augusta National. He has played the Masters eight times and has made the cut five times. His best finish came last year when he tied for fifth place, just two shots behind eventual winner Tiger Woods. Simpson shot a sizzling 64 on Saturday to climb into contention in the event.

Now 35 years old, Simpson has the experience and the demeanor to win at Augusta. He also has the major championship experience to go with it. Seeing Simpson wearing the green jacket at the end of the week would be no surprise.
