2020 RSM Classic: Top 10 power rankings at Sea Island
Kevin Kisner has about as good of course history as anybody this week in the field.
His first of now three PGA Tour wins came here in 2015 (65-67-64-64). That six-shot romp highlights a resume that lists four top-10s and six top-26s in nine RSM Classic appearances.
All four top-10s came in the former Georgia Bulldog’s last six trips: T-4th (69-68-66-65) in 2014, win in 2015, T-4th (67-68-65-68) in 2017 and T-7th (70-69-63-65) in 2018.
“Sea Island has always been special to me,” Kisner was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2015. “I lived here for a year right out of college. I played here all four years in college for the SEC Championship. This is where we’ve come to vacation many times. Sea island is just a special place to me.”
The Aiken, South Carolina native grew up near the Georgia border, so playing in this region of the country and on Bermuda greens is old hat.
Kisner is coming off a missed cut at the Masters last week. The course was playing long and soft, which was a bad combo for Kis. That was just the 36 year old’s second missed cut since July. Recently, Kisner was T-14tth at the Zozo Championship. A T-4th at The Northern Trust and T-25th at the BMW Championship propelled him into the Tour Championship.
Kisner ranked 15th on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained putting (.559). He was also 33rd in driving accuracy (65.23%).
