With a diminished European Tour schedule and no Race to Dubai Final Series, more international players are teeing it up in fall PGA Tour events. That includes Tommy Fleetwood, who’s making his RSM Classic debut.

The 29-year-old Englishman wasn’t in great form his previous couple starts until he picked it up last week at the Masters. He fired 71-66-71-74. Fleetwood was in contention through 36 holes but didn’t have the firepower to keep up with the leaders on the weekend.

He did have his coach, Alan Thompson, out with him At Augusta National. Perhaps the two found something.

“I haven’t played anywhere near where I’d like to play. I felt like, if you used the 2020 PGA TOUR season, it was a disappointment at best, but it’s been a strange year,” Fleetwood was transcribed by ASAP Sports during the Masters. “It’s been a strange year. I’ve had some great spells, but I’ve had some poor ones, and at the moment, I feel like I’m doing good things. I felt like I played really well today, and that’s kind of what I expected.”

Fleetwood is seeking his first worldwide win in 2020. He’s had some close calls with two runner-ups and a third on the Euro Tour and a third on the PGA Tour (Honda Classic). His third came on Bermuda greens like we’ll see this week.

The long-haired lad was 24th on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained off the tee (.389). Sea Island GC doesn’t reward elite drivers like most tracks on the schedule, but there are spots where it can help.

Fleetwood was also 26th in SG putting (.437).
