The first time was the charm for Harris English at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Then known as the OHL Classic, the American fired 68-62-68-65 to storm to a four-shot win. He’s come to El Camaleon every year since with four made cuts, including solo fifth (65-64-68-70) in 2019.

“I had a lot of success here and I love this place, love the greens,” Tee Scripts transcribed English in 2019. “Feel like if I can get it on the dance floor and hit 14, 15, 16 greens a round, I can give myself a chance.”

English hasn’t won since the 2013 Mayakoba, his second career win. He’s come very close to another trophy recently.

In 2020, he finished solo runner up against an elite field at The Northern Trust and has five more top-10s. It was unfortunate he didn’t qualify for this year’s Masters, but he’ll be there in 2021.

The former Georgia Bulldog enters the week with five top-12s in his previous eight events. The last was T-6th at the RSM Classic a couple weeks ago. While that was a home game for English, the Mayakoba is one of the next closest things he’s got as far as course familiarity and comfort.

The 31 year old had no glaring statistical areas last season. He ranked as high as 18th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting (.518) and tee to green (.948). The putting’s been there for most of his career but his ball striking is much more reliable.

English has only two missed cuts and just one since June. He’s a good play for your DFS lineup and is poised to end his win drought before long.
