Mayakoba Golf Classic: Beau Hossler Has Another Awful Round
By Tim Letcher
Beau Hossler continued a troubling trend this week at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, where he missed the cut by a long, long way.
Beau Hossler has had a very tough start to the 2020-21 season on the PGA Tour. The season didn’t start badly, but it has certainly taken a turn in that direction over the last month, one that continued at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
Hossler started his season by making the cut in the first five events on his schedule. He tied for 23rd at the Safeway Open, followed by a T41 at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.

He had a T57 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, a T34 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and a T26 at the Bermuda Championship.
However, Hossler has struggled in his last three starts, including this week. At the Houston Open, Hossler blew up on Friday, shooting an 82 to drop way, way off the cut line.
Two weeks later, Hossler shot a 76 in the first round of the RSM Classic. He did bounce back with a 66 in the second round, but he still missed the cut.
This week, Hossler was at it again.
Hossler opened the week in Mexico with a 5-over par 76 on Thursday. Then, things went from bad to worse on Friday.
Things didn’t start that badly for Hossler on Friday. He opened his round with pars on the first and second holes before suffering his first bogey of the day at the third hole.
Hossler would par the fourth and fifth holes before suffering his second bogey of the day, this one at the par-4 sixth hole. He was 2-over par at that point.
And that’s when the round went completely off the rails.
Hossler took a snowman, an eight, on the par-5 seventh hole. He went from 2-over par to 5-over par on his Friday round and, at that point, any hopes that he would make the cut were completely gone.
He finished his front nine with a 5-over par 41. At that point, he was 10-over for the tournament.
On the back nine, Hossler had bogeys at the 10th, 16th and 18th holes. He also had a birdie, which came on the par-5 13th hole.
At the end of the round, Hossler had beaten just two players. One of those, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, withdrew. The other player is someone named Isidro Benitez, who actually still has three holes to play.
All in all, it was another disastrous week for Hossler, who continues to trend in a very negative direction.
