Robert MacIntyre is gunning to be the top lefty in the world. The Scot has already passed up Lefty himself, No. 67 Phil Mickelson, and is tracking to pass up No. 45 Bubba Watson.

MacIntyre is on a hot streak coming to the DP World Tour Championship. The 24 year old won his first European Tour title a few weeks ago at the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown. MacIntyre didn’t have the low gross score over 72 holes but took advantage of a quirky format to close strong on Sunday.

The former McNeese State Cowboy birdied four of his last six holes to fire 7-under 64.

“Last year I was talking and thinking about winning golf tournaments, when I was going down the back nine on a Sunday,” MacIntyre was quoted by the Associated Press. “But this year I’ve just tried to take my time, and let it happen. What will happen will happen and today it’s happened.”

That was right in the middle of a current streak of four straight top-20s. He finished T-3rd at the same course in Cyprus the week prior and later earned T-6th in South Africa at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

MacIntyre has good history in Dubai. He carded 71-74-68-69 to surge for T-14th in his DP World Tour Championship in 2019. He added a T-8th at the Dubai Desert Classic in early 2020.

MacIntyre is a good ball striker. He’s top 50 on the European Tour in driving accuracy (57.85%) and greens in regulation (69.64%).
