2020 DP World Tour Championship: Top 10 power rankings at the Earth course
Sungjae Im will tee it up anywhere, any time, any place. He primarily sticks to the PGA Tour and its American-based schedule, but he’ll tee it up in his home continent of Asia from time to time and in European Tour events on the mainland or elsewhere.
Im is making his DP World Tour Championship debut. Discounting co-sanctioned majors and World Golf Championships, this is also Im’s European Tour debut.
Fortunately for the young South Korean star, majors and WGCs do count toward the Race to Dubai. Im did well in the last two majors, grabbing 22nd at the U.S. Open and T-2nd at the Masters.
The 22 year old didn’t find the same consistency this year as he did in his 2019 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year campaign. On the flip side, Im contended more often and cashed in for his first win in February/March at the Honda Classic. He totaled six top-10s in 2020.
Im missed the cut in his last start at the RSM Classic. It ended a streak of five made cuts in a row and six of the last seven.
The former Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year finished last season ranked 20th in strokes gained off the tee (.437) and is 19th (.621) so far on the young 2021 season.
His weakness is around the greens. Getting up and down at this week’s track isn’t all too difficult, so I like Im to manage OK.
