Patrick Cantlay has won three times in the last four years, and he might just be scratching the surface.

The former elite collegian at UCLA has had injuries hamper parts of his pro career, but he’s been hitting his stride. He picked up a high profile win last fall in his home state at the Zozo Championship.

Cantlay stared down Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm among others to win the invitation-only event at Sherwood.

The 28 year old only played 16 times in 2020 but finished in the top 10 a quarter of the time. He missed just one cut and played the weekend at all three majors.

Cantlay makes his third Tournament of Champions start this week. He debuted at T-15th in 2018 (70-70-72-71) and jumped up to solo fourth in 2020 (69-71-73-68). That makes for seven under-par rounds and the other right at even.

He epitomizes consistency and ranked 58th or better last season on the PGA Tour in all strokes gained categories. Cantlay was 12th in SG tee to green (1.097). He should feast on the five par-5 opportunities after finishing fourth in 2019-20 par-5 scoring (4.49).

The last time we saw Cantlay in action was at the Masters where he brought home T-17th. About two months away from competition should mean he’s rested and ready to go for Hawaii and the upcoming West Coast swing where he typically plays well.

I don’t envision Cantlay pulling it out this week but I see him as good value for your DFS lineup, per usual.
