No realistic chance

  • Hudson Swafford, 1.66
  • Sergio Garcia, 1.28
  • Richy Werenski, 1.23
  • Brian Gay, 1.22
  • Martin Laird, 1.21
  • Michael Thompson, 1.19
  • Nick Taylor, 1.16
  • Marc Leishman, 1.16
  • Andrew Landry, 1.14

Swafford, Garcia, Gay and Laird all were winners during this stretch of tournaments, so inclusion of their names this low on a list of hot players may be surprising. Swafford followed his Puntacana victory by missing four cuts and finishing T63 the only time he made it through 72 holes. Garcia bombed out at both the U.S. Open and at Houston.

Gay hasn’t played since winning at Bermuda; his only two previous starts this season were both missed cuts with an average score of 72.7.

In fact all 10 of these coolest TOC competitors have missed at least one cut in their recent performances.

Kisner’s is probably the most surprising name in this group. After all, he tied for 14th at the Zozo and then lost a playoff to Robert Streb at the RSM. His rating is influenced by his disastrous performances in the fall’s two majors. Kisner shot 76-76 and missed the cut at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, then managed only a 71-76 at the Masters to miss the cut there as well.
