The Memorial Tournament

Tiger always had a special affinity for this event, which is hosted each season in Dublin, Ohio, by Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Village.

Woods has won Jack’s event five times, with his first win at the event coming in 1999. That year, Woods shot 15-under par to win by two strokes over Vijay Singh.

Tiger came back the following year in the prime of his career. As the defending champion at the Memorial, he defended his title, this time with a dominating, five-shot win over Ernie Els and Justin Leonard.

The following year, Tiger came back as the two-time defending champion and still in the prime of his career. Pretty obvious that he won in Ohio yet again. This one, a seven-shot win over Paul Azinger and Sergio Garcia, was even more dominant than the year before.

Woods then went eight years between wins at the Memorial before he won there for the fourth time, this one in 2009, when he held off Jim Furyk by one shot.

Tiger’s most recent win at the Memorial came in 2012, when he topped Andres Romero and Rory Sabbatini by two shots.

Altogether, Tiger loved visiting Nicklaus’ event in central Ohio, and the results showed.
