Buick Invitational/Farmers Insurance Open

Torrey Pines, near San Diego, has been one of Tiger’s favorite spots since his arrival on the PGA Tour. The fact that the courses there fit his eye have led to an amazing seven wins in the event.

Woods claimed his first title in the Buick Invitational in 1999, when he shot 22-under par and beat Billy Ray Brown by two shots.

Woods won again in 2003, shooting 16-under par that season to claim his second win. It was a four-shot victory over Carl Pettersson.

Tiger did not win at Torrey Pines in 2004, but he bounced back with a win there in 2005, his third win in the event. The margin was three strokes and the runners-up this time were Luke Donald, Charles Howell III and Tom Lehman.

Woods won the following year, but he needed a little extra work to get it done. Woods went to a playoff to top Nathan Green and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Tiger made it three in a row at Torrey in 2007, when he beat Charles Howell III by two shots. And in 2008, he made it four in a row by dominating the field, and runner-up Ryuji Imada, by eight strokes.

In 2013, Woods won again, at a tournament now called the Farmers Insurance Open. It was a four-shot victory over Brandt Snedeker and Josh Teater.
