Once again, Patrick Reed is tied atop the leaderboard at the Farmers Insurance Open, this time with Carlos Ortiz. That’s not who we are here to talk about, although we have covered that as well.

There is an incredible group of golfers that are sitting tied for third place, just two shots back at -8. We have major winners, young studs, and a man that many have been picking to win at nearly every tournament that he enters. Oh, and we still have Sam Burns and Lanto Griffin, who are pretty good in their own right.

Adam Scott had quite the entertaining round, and he is going to be the first one that we look at. He went into the day at -8, and it’s where he finished, but it was quite the ride to get there.

You wouldn’t think that we would be looking at someone who had five bogeys and a double-bogey as contending heading into the final round of a PGA tournament. Yet, that is where Scott is. The flipside is that he canceled them all out by also knocking home five birdies and an eagle.

The strong group at the Farmers Insurance continues with Jon Rahm.

Rahm’s round was a lot quieter than the one that Scott had, but he still had his fair share of ups and downs. After birdies on the second and third holes, he would bogey five, birdie six, and bogey seven. He then sprinkled a couple of bogeys in on the back with one birdie, to just like Scott, shoot par and leave the day where he entered.

Viktor Hovland tried to join them by leaving the day with the same score that he entered, but he couldn’t quite get there. The culprit was a short stretch on the front where he shot bogey, bogey, par, double. He nearly came all the way back and finished at 73 (+1) on the day to sit in a five-way tie at -8.

Keep an eye on Rory McIlroy as well. He managed to shoot -2 today and sits at -7, just three strokes back of the leaders.
