Pebble Beach: Golfer picks to win the 2021 Pro-Am
We are in the midst of what seems to be the most fan-friendly and enjoyable time of the year for golf, at least pre-March 2020. After the Waste Management Open, we make our way to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The Waste Management Phoenix Open has crazy fans, but Pebble Beach has celebrities. I don’t know about you, but seeing the celebrities who think they’re special golfers get knocked down a notch makes me feel just a little bit better about my own game.
We’ve been more active than ever before, and continue on with our wide coverage of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. We’ve got power rankings, fantasy talk, dark horses, and more to keep you entertained in the lead up to this year’s event.
Here are the staff picks to win the 2021 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Patrick Cantlay
Joey McCusker
Mike Randleman – In an excerpt from Mike’s weekly power rankings…
“Cantlay came close to that mark last year when 66-69-72-73 netted him T-11th. He’ll have to improve at Pebble this time around as his third and fourth rounds cost him a chance at the win… I like him to do so given the form he brings in. He’s coming off two weeks of rest after claiming solo second at The American Express. His incredible Sunday 61 left him one shot out of a playoff and it took Si-Woo Kim to finish in 64 to win.”
Michael Ellis – Sometimes you have to pick the most talented player in the field and this week, it’s Cantlay. Look for the World Number 11 to have a big week at Pebble Beach Golf Links, led by his elite ball-striking.
Tim Letcher – He loves playing in his native California and it shows. He’s the highest-ranked player in the field this week and he will win at Pebble Beach.
Francesco Molinari
Josh Chandler – In an excerpt from his article this week, Josh explains why he likes Molinari at Pebble Beach…
“Molinari has begun his 2021 campaign with two top-ten finishes in two starts, this includes the 10th place at the Farmers two weeks ago. The irons have been excellent over these two starts and his game should be perfectly suited for these short courses this week. Even though he has not played at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am previously, Francesco has played Pebble back at the U.S. Open in 2019 when he finished tied for 16th.”
Phil Mickelson
DJ Cadden
Cameron Tringale
Matt Tizzard
Jason Day
Chris O’Day – It’s crazy. Jason day hasn’t won in a few years, and he is also winless at Pebble. You would think that with his talent, and his results here, that he would’ve found one. Check out some of his finishes here.
Seven top-tens through eleven starts. T-2nd in 2018 and T-4th in 2019.
He’s gotta come through at some point, so why not this year, this time around at Pebble Beach.
Paul Casey
Kasey Kuhrts – Casey is two weeks removed from a victory at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour and doesn’t have a finish worse than 38th on either the European or PGA Tour since October of 2020. Pairing that with Casey’s strong history a Pebble Beach, which included a 21st finish at the 2019 U.S. Open, when the course played much tougher than it does at AT&T, and back-to-back top ten-finishes as this event in 2018-2019, I like his chances to win this week!
West Valentine – I’d normally go with Dustin here, but I think a long week coming back from Saudi Arabia will take a toll. Casey has a great all-around game and the cold, coastal conditions suit a Brit playing well.
Will Zalatoris
Richie Randolph
Bill Felber – He’s a San Francisco area native, he’s coming off a couple of good weeks, and that sounds like a good combination for coping with the challenges the Monterey Peninsula can pose.
Maverick McNealy
Kathy Bissell
Kevin Streelman
Hans Geevers – He has the perfect combination of great event history and good current form to win at Pebble Beach.
Best of luck to everyone playing this week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am!
