The unpredictable adventures of Brooks Koepka resulted in a win in his last start. A couple weeks ago, BK returned to the site of his first PGA Tour win in 2014 and did it again in 2021 at the Phoenix Open.

He used heroics to chip in for eagle on 17 en route to a one-shot victory. It was a big boost for Koepka who missed his last three cuts going in and was winless since summer 2019.

You wouldn’t think a four-time major champion would need a shot of confidence, but after struggles (some injury related) crept in over the past year-plus, anyone would be a bit shaken.

We’re still a couple months away from Augusta. The Floridian and Jupiter resident is likely looking forward to the big Florida swing coming up and going for the third leg of the career grand slam..

I’m wondering how much emphasis Koepka’s putting on this event. It’s why I couldn’t nudge him a few slots higher.

He also doesn’t have a ton of reps at the Genesis Invitational. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy missed the cut at his Riviera debut in 2017 and took T-43rd (69-73-68-74) in an up-and-down showing in 2020.

The 30 year old is known for his ability to kill the ball. His finesse game is working this season, too. His best strokes gained category is putting (12th, .803). Koepka’s top 50 in the other SG categories.

Bunker play can be important around here. He’s fourth in sand saves (70.83%).
