The first round of the Genesis Invitational begins in just a few days. This outstanding golf tournament has always attracted the best golfers in the world. This year is certainly no exception. Clearly, fantasy golf fans have to be excited to get after this year’s event. Having stated that, let’s take a look at the DraftKings first-round showdown slate and find six golfers that can help us win some cash!

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections I want to clearly state that this article is specifically focused on the first-round showdown contest. The showdown contest is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional contest offered by Draftkings for DFS golf.

If you are not familiar with the rules for the showdown contest I recommend that you check out the DraftKings website for more details.

Here are my fantasy golf player selections for Thursday’s DraftKings first-round fantasy golf showdown slate.

Dustin Johnson $10,500

The American is currently showing everyone on the planet why he is the number one player in the world. Let’s just take a look at the data. In his last five events played (PGA and European Tours combined), Johnson has four top-six finishes, including two wins (2020 Masters, 2021 Saudi International).

Bryson DeChambeau $9,500

Bryson fired a final round 66 at the Sentry Tournament Of Champions last month on his way to an eventual seventh-place finish.

Since the beginning of October, DeChambeau has played four golf tournaments (PGA and European Tours combined). In those four events just mentioned, DeChambeau’s average first-round score was 66.5.

Matthew NeSmith $7,200

The 27-year-old has two consecutive top 16 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a seventh-place result at the Waste Management Phoenix Open two weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2021 Genesis Invitational field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, NeSmith ranks second in strokes gained approach, second in strokes gained tee to green, and ninth in GIR (greens in regulation).

Luke List $7,100

The 36-year-old American arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of three consecutive top 30 finishes, including a tenth place result at the Farmers Insurance Open last month.

Wyndham Clark $6,800

Clark has four top 32 finishes in his last seven events played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the Bermuda Championship. Clark played the Genesis Invitational for the first time last year. He certainly made the most of his first opportunity. To be more specific, Clark finished 17th at the 2020 Genesis Invitational.

Additional golfers I like: Xander Schauffele $9,700: Adam Scott $8,900.
