Jon Rahm is one of the handful of players this week that has competitive reps at The Concession Golf Club.

The Spaniard was among the favorites to win the 2015 NCAA Division I NCAA Championship ranked No. 2 at the time in the Golfstat collegiate rankings. The former Arizona State Sun Devil settled for T-22nd with rounds of 71-75-71-73.

The big guy was never quite able to jump into contention last week at Riviera, though the 26 year old still took home a remarkable 12th straight top-25. Rounds of 70-69-72-66.

It was one of those weeks where it was disappointing to not see him in the mix, but at the same time he far from had his best stuff and still grinded out a high finish. It was similar to Dustin Johnson losing his touch on the weekend yet still taking home T-8th against an elite field.

Rahm was fourth in the field last week in strokes gained tee to green (2.15) but was outside the top 30 on and around the greens. Perhaps a switch to grainier, but more consistent Bermuda greens at Concession will help his cause.

The four-time PGA Tour winner ranks third in SG tee to green on the season (1.745). I think scores might be low this week.

Rahm can make birdies in bunches (28th, 4.44) and is seventh in scoring average (69.743).

He spoke on Sunday that he felt everything came together on Sunday. Rahm converted from Taylormade to Callaway equipment at New Years.

Without even fully being acclimated he still cranked out a pair of T-7th finishes and T-13th prior to Riviera.

“Yeah, I’m really confident, I’m feeling great, I’m putting in the work,” Rahm was transcribed by Tee Scripts. “It’s just for anybody who’s concerned or has any thoughts about it, it just takes time to adjust to competition golf. It’s easy to do it at home, it’s easy to do it at a golf course you’ve played a million times, but when it counts the most is when you’ve got to do it.”
