2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational: Top 10 power rankings at Bay Hill
Bryson DeChambeau has never missed the weekend in four tries at Bay Hill. Speaking of four, that’s the place he finished in 2020. It was his second top-five in the last three years. In 2018, he recorded 67-66-72-68 and came up three shy of Rory McIlroy.
DeChambeau posted 73-71-72-71 a year ago in U.S. Open style conditions that had to have prepared him for Winged Foot later on the calendar.
Summoning thoughts from his U.S. Open win might be necessary to get DeChambeau back on track. He hasn’t been his sharpest in 2021 with zero top-fives in four worldwide starts.
DeChambeau isn’t worlds away from good form. He shook off an opening 77 last week at the WGC-Workday Championship to close in 64-72-69 and climb to T-22nd.
The former SMU Mustang also earned T-7th at the Tournament of Champions and T-18th against a solid field at the European Tour’s Saudi International.
DeChambeau wasn’t putting well this season but had it rolling last week on Bermuda. He was 12th in the field in strokes gained (3.61 total). He was also seventh in the field in SG off the tee (4.341) and is first for the season (1.159 per round).
He also is the top dog in driving distance (323.9 yards) and holes per eagle (44).
The Californian has played fewer events than most at this point in the season, so I like for him to be fresh and ready to peak soon.
