The Favorites at the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Rory Mcllroy +900 opens as the favorite this week ahead of both Viktor Hovland +1200 and Bryson DeChambeau +1200 who both come in joint second favorites in the market this week.

Mcllroy has a tremendous history at Bay Hill with finishes of 6th or better on the last four occasions. It would not be a shock if he were to break through this week, but after recent comments from the Northern Irishman about his game not being quite at the level he wants it to be yet I’ll look elsewhere.

Of the top-three, I’d lean Hovland who continued his run of superb golf last week with another 2nd place finish, and who has also played well at two comparable events to this week in both the Farmers and BMW Championship at Wentworth on the European Tour.

Defending Champion Tyrrell Hatton +1800 is joined by Patrick Reed +1800 to close out this range, both of whom pique my interest this week. Hatton had been on an excellent run of form before somewhat disappointing at the Workday WGC last week, though he had a strong final round on Sunday to finish inside the top-25.

Reed was in contention for a good portion of last week before some errant drives and unusually poor short game cost him on Sunday.

There are some interesting names that highlight the midtier this week so let’s take a glance at the +5000 and under range for the Arnold Palmer Invitational next.
