2021 Honda Classic: Top 10 power rankings at PGA National
The struggles Chris Kirk has had with anxiety, alcoholism and depression have been well documented. These issues temporarily derailed his promising career, but Kirk appears to be in a better place in his life these days. That’s awesome to see for a guy many seem to find easy to pull for.
His successes off the course are translating on it. The four-time PGA Tour winner did his time on the Korn Ferry Tour and is back in the big leagues posting high finishes.
“…thankfully my mindset has changed a lot now in numerous ways, and I’m back to really truly enjoying playing and really enjoying competing, and I love being out here and playing against the best players in the world and kind of seeing what I can do,” Kirk was transcribed by ASAP Sports.
Kirk owns six top-25s since July, including T-2nd at the Sony Open in January.
Four straight 65s are usually enough to win anywhere, but he settled for one shot back at Waialaie.
The former Georgia Bulldog star followed it up with T-16th the next week at The American Express.
After a missed cut in Phoenix, he’s since made three straight cuts including T-16th at Pebble Beach and T-8th at Bay Hill. He was also in the mix last week at the Players Championship before a tough Sunday.
He’s well familiar playing on Bermuda grass. Specifically at the Honda Classic where he’s teed it up eight times. Kirk owns five made cuts at PGA National highlighted by T-12th (69-67-72-68) in 2014.
