The Favorites at WGC Dell Technologies Match Play

The odds used in this article can be found online at popular betting sites, for more information on the best odds and sportsbook’s available locally to you check out The Action Network

Group 1

World number one Dustin Johnson +1400 shares one-fourth of the top of betting boards this week. The 2020 Masters Champion is joined in group one by Kevin Na +12500, Robert MacIntyre +17500, and Adam Long +25000.

Johnson is the clear favorite to make it out of this group and he is a former winner of the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play after claiming the title in 2017. It’s been a bit of a struggle for Dustin in his last two starts and he will be looking to turn things around in Austin this week as he continues to prepare for his defense of the green jacket in a couple of weeks.

Group 2

Justin Thomas +1400 leads a very tough group two on paper this week as he joined by 2019 Match Play Champion Kevin Kisner +7000, runner-up in 2016 Louis Oosthuizen +4500, and Matt Kuchar +15000 who was runner-up in this event to Kisner in 2019.

The PLAYERS Champion will be looking to continue the excellent run of form that led him to victory at TPC Sawgrass in his last start. Justin’s best finish at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play came back in 2018 when he lost in the semi-finals and he will be looking to improve upon his 8-10-1 Match Play record at Austin Country Club where he is 8-7-1 since the event has been held in Texas.

Group 5

2020 U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau +1400 is one of the favorites this week after a relatively favorable group five draw that also includes Tommy Fleetwood +5500, Pete Dye specialist Si Woo Kim +9000, and Antoine Rozner +17500.

With two top-fives in his last two starts that include a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month, DeChambeau should come into this week full of confidence. Bryson has shown an acute strategic awareness when it comes to taking on different courses and he has dialed back his monstrous power off the tee when required, the American displayed this when taking on the difficult TPC Sawgrass in his last start.

DeChambeau’s Match Play record at this event doesn’t give us much to go on after going out in the group stage in his only start in 2019, and how he chooses to attack Austin Country Club this week will be one of the more intriguing storylines.

Group 3

Jon Rahm +1400 is the last part of the quartet that leads the way at +1400 this week. The Spaniard is joined in group three by Zurich Classic teammate Ryan Palmer +7000, Open Champion Shane Lowry +12500, and Sebastian Munoz +17500.

Rahm will be expected to come out of this group and he will be looking to go one step further this week then his runner-up finish to Dustin Johnson here in 2017. Jon holds a Match Play record of 8-4-2 with seven of those eight wins in his career coming at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

The top four favorites will be tough to beat this week but there are definitely some names that headline the Mid-Tier who can win this week at an event that has produced Middle-Tiered winners before in Kevin Kisner and Bubba Watson.
