Tony Finau +1100 now leads the way as the overall favorite to win this week’s Valero Texas Open having had cooled off in recent starts after a scintillating start to the year that included the playoff defeat to Max Homa at Riviera in February. Finau will be looking to rebound following the missed cut at THE PLAYERS in his last start, he has a 3rd place finish to his name at TPC San Antonio back in 2017.

Finau is followed next in the market by not one, but two Texas Longhorns in both Scottie Scheffler +1400 and Jordan Spieth +1400, both are coming off of solid performances at last week’s WGC Dell Technologies Match Play with Scheffler having made the run all the way to the Championship match. It will be interesting to see if last week’s long run takes a toll on Scheffler’s performance this week.

The defending champion from the last time this tournament was held in 2019 Corey Conners +1800 comes in next in the under +2000 range, along with Hideki Matsuyama +1800, and Abraham Ancer +2000 who closes out the list of favorites this week.

Conners is well-positioned to repeat at the Valero Texas Open, the Canadien comes into this week with two top-ten finishes in his last two starts. Matuyama will be making his debut at TPC San Antonio this week, while Ancer is local to the area and has been striking the ball excellently in recent starts.

Another Texas native, a course horse, and a past Champion of this event can all be found in the Mid-Tier this week.
