The Mid-Tier

Ryan Palmer +2500 starts out the middle-tiered range this week after a nice performance last week in Austin that almost ended with an upset of World number three Jon Rahm in a playoff following a tie in their final group match. The Texan has had a good run of results at this event in the past, though he has missed the cut at TPC San Antonio in his last two appearances.

A handful of players that have put in some nice results in their most recent starts can be found in this range next in Cameron Tringale +2500Charley Hoffman +3300Si Woo Kim +3500, and Brendan Steele +4150. Of the group, it’s Steele who most intrigues this week with recent form, course history, and results on comparable courses all in his favor.

Keegan Bradley, Lanto Griffin, Zach Johnson, and Chris Kirk can all be found at +4500 to close out the middle range this week. Zach Johnson and Chris Kirk have a great track record at the Valero Texas Open, and Bradley has both the game and recent form that make him an appealing pick this week. It’s Lanto Griffin however who is most interesting among this group, a former winner of the Houston Open in 2019 and someone who has been putting in some really nice performances of late that includes gaining strokes with his ball-striking in three consecutive starts.

The Valero Texas Open is an event that has seen a wide range of winners in the past, from both the top of the board to deep longshots, making it an exciting and open event to take some shots with.
