The 2021 Masters is one day away, which means the folks at Augusta National have finally released the much anticipated Thursday pairings and times for the 2021 spectacle. The Masters is known for spreading out their tee times well in terms of the talent pool, adding to the fact that beside having almost all the best players in the world, there is no “weak” pairing.

While the top players set to tee off toward the mid-morning, even the groupings who will get their first shot at the early 8:00 A.M. and on include a hearty mix of former champions, fresh faces, and the old souls who even at 60 can wow anyone on any given day at Augusta.

Of all the tee times however, ten stick out the most. Whether it be because of the storylines heading into the tournament, the past play of the members in each group, the pairings and their possible dynamics on the course, there is no shortage of interest as we await the biggest tournament in golf.

Here are the ten Thursday tee times (eastern time) you need to look out for, including the entire slate of tee times:

8:12 a.m. — Sandy Lyle, Matt Jones, Dylan Frittelli

Lyle, the 1988 green jacket winner, gets paired with third year participant Dylan Frittelli who’s looking to build off a top five finish last year.

9:12 a.m. — Charl Schwartzel, Si Woo Kim, Corey Conners

A longshot to win according to former ESPN and Golf Channel personality Ryan Burr, Corey Connors will get to learn from a 2011 champion in Charl Schwartzel. Conners finished T10 (-9) in 2020.

10:06 a.m. — Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka, Viktor Hovland

This group is ~ weird ~. The quirky Watson, the bully Brooks with the spiderman crouch, and the young Viking Viktor Hovland. Simply put, it’s an exciting mix of players to keep your eyes on.

10:18 a.m. — Sergio Garcia, Webb Simpson, Christiaan Bezuidenhout
Webb Simpson has cracked the top ten in back-to-back tournaments, maybe he’ll take a few reads from Sergio Garcia and find himself the green jacket.

10:30 a.m. — Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood, Tyler Strafaci

Take the fact that it’s the world #1 paired with the possibly one of the hottest golfer of 2021, now throw the most recent US Amateur. This’ll be fun.

10:42 a.m. — Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy

None of them have won a green jacket. Xander came close in 2019, but Tiger happened. Rahm just had a baby, he’ll either miss the cut or go deep, that’s how these stories usually go. Rory just wants to hit a fairway. A group to keep your eye on.

10:54 a.m. — Patrick Reed, Daniel Berger, Paul Casey

Despite a great 2020, Daniel Berger didn’t make the field last year. Now is his chance as he’s paired with Paul Casey who hasn’t made the top 30 in two years. Let us not forget America’s favorite villain Patrick Reed…

1:36 p.m. — Adam Scott, Bryson DeChambeau, Max Homa

This is the redemption group. Can Bryson do right on his ‘67 is par’ comment from last year? Will Max Homa prove his win at Riviera wasn’t a fluke? Can Adam Scott replicate his tremendous 2011-13 run and place top ten for the first time since 2017? Lots of questions.

1:48 p.m. — Tony Finau, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas is my predicted winner, so I am on watch, but my big question is if Tony Finau can find his stride after missing two straight cuts. If he can, he’s a lethal play this week.

2 p.m. — Jordan Spieth, Cameron Smith, Collin Morikawa

All eyes are on Jordan Spieth. It’s unfortunate that Cam Smith (T2 -15 in 2020) won’t get as much press as him. He would’ve won had it not been for an ungodly performance from
Dustin Johnson. And of course Colin Morikawa, who in my opinion is the future of golf. Young and talented group.
