Patrick Cantlay comes to the RBC Heritage seeking his fourth top-10 in as many starts.

The Californian is comfortable across the country at Harbour Town. He debuted in 2017 finishing T-3rd (70-66-70-67), finished T-7th (67-72-68-68) in 2018 and T-3rd (67-72-66-69) in 2019. It was surprising Cantlay didn’t show up last year, though it was hard to blame anyone for being hesitant after play resumed during the pandemic.

“It’s a golf course I feel really comfortable on so I look forward to this event every year,” Cantlay was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2019. “And I feel like it suits my game.”

He was right in the thick of it on Sunday in 2019 until a bogey on his final hole resulted in finishing two back of champion CT Pan.

Cantlay won this PGA Tour season last fall in his home state at the Zozo Championship. He kept it going early in 2021 with solo second at The American Express and T-3rd at Pebble Beach.

It was a bit of a shock to see him miss the cut last week at the Masters. Nonetheless, the former UCLA Bruin still has two top-20s in his last four starts at Riviera and the WGC-Match Play.

Cantlay ranks in the top 52 on the PGA Tour in all the main strokes gained categories this season. His game translates well to various course styles. Ball striking is the 29-year-old’s calling card as he sits eighth in SG tee to green (1.338).

He’s also seventh in SG around the green (.508).
