2021 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Top 10 teams at TPC Louisiana
Two man teams from the same country are prevalent at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. We’ve got another one here with the English duo of Tyrrell Hatton and Danny Willett.
Hatton is the current star of the group as a top-10 player in the world, but Danny Willett is showing good form, too, in recent years after he dropped from his post-Masters perch in 2016.
Hatton has three top-25s in his last six starts and also won early in the year on the European Tour at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. He appeared once at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, just missing the cut by two alongside Jamie Donaldson in 2017.
That was before Hatton found success in the U.S. He’s since won the Arnold Palmer Invitational among other high finishes on the PGA Tour.
Hatton, 29, ranks highly in all PGA Tour strokes gained stats besides around the green. He’s as high as ninth in SG approach (.75).
Willett is coming off T-18th last week at the RBC Heritage, his second top-20 in the last four starts. He also made all four cuts early in the year on the European Tour. This is his first Zurich Classic of New Orleans appearance.
The 33-year-old brings the short game proficiency this season that Hatton lacks. Willett is 34th on the PGA Tour in SG around the green (.274).
Willett also keeps a more level-headed mindset out on the course. That could help balance out a fiery partner like Hatton. Or at least to be a shoulder to cry on.
