2021 Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Top 10 teams at TPC Louisiana
It might not be up to the level of Cameron Champ and Tony Finau, but the team of Scottie Scheffler and Bubba Watson can still smoke the ball.
They’ll look to give themselves plenty of birdie looks as they unite for the first time. Bubba’s made the cut at all three team editions of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He twice made it with JB Holmes, including in 2017 when they earned T-5th.
The 42-year-old Watson also has a good track record on his own at this event. He won it in 2011, shooting 66-68-70-69 to get into a playoff with Webb Simpson. Watson made seven of eight cuts at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, including four top-20s.
The Floridian ranks 17th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee to green (1.096).
Watson is the type of creative shotmaker you want by your side in alternate shot to pull something off if you put him in an awkward position.
This is Scheffler’s first start at TPC Louisiana. The 24-year-old has built on his Rookie of the Year campaign from last season with three top-10s in 2021. He came close to winning his first PGA Tour event when he reached the WGC-Match Play finals.
Scheffler ranks 37th in SG off the tee (.753).
This is the first time the two have played together. If they can build chemistry and Watson keeps his temper in check, they could be a force to be reckoned with.
