Think this group has some firepower?

Cameron Champ is third on the PGA Tour in driving distance (318.3) and Finau is 30th (305.1).

A pair who can hit the ball far and make lots of birdies is suitable for a format like the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Finau missed the cut here in 2017 with Daniel Summerhays but the duo improved to sixth in 2018. He MC’d with Kyle Stanley in 2019.

Champ missed the cut by one with Sam Burns in 2019. The 25-year-old Texan last teed it up a couple weeks ago at the Masters where he earned T-26th. It was his fifth made cut in six career major starts.

Champ ranks 27th on the PGA Tour in proximity from 200 or more yards (49’3”)

Finau also last competed at Augusta National where he took T-10th. That was his fifth top-10 of the year, which includes three runner-up results.

The 31-year-old Utahan is fifth in strokes gained tee to green (1.4). He has the more polished short game and putting, so strategy will be key to get him the right holes to help Champ.

These two finished T-5th at the 2020 QBE Shootout where they fired 59 in best ball.

They share a manager, Chris Armstrong, who suggested they unite for the QBE Shootout. Clearly they get along well if they’re running it back together in New Orleans.

“I think iron wise we’re pretty much the same,” Champ was transcribed by Tee Scripts before the 2020 QBE Shootout. “Maybe a few holes depending on who goes first or what, we can kind of try to play a little more aggressive depending on the format, which is fun.”
