Billy Horschel won the 2018 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Scott Piercy. They posted 65-73-61-67 to win by one. The two ran it back in 2019 (T-13th), but have since parted ways. Piercy is with Akshay Bhatia this week.

Now, Horschel will look to get Sam Burns over the hump at TPC Louisiana after Burns missed the weekend by one with Cameron Champ in 2019.

Both players have racked up high finishes in 2021.

The 34-year-old Horschel won the WGC-Match Play, was runner-up at the WGC-Workday Championship and was in the top 10 at the Sony Open. He’s 24th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.408). Billy Ho is not that long off the tee but his accuracy is useful in a format like this week’s.

Horschel is the only player to win both the individual and team versions of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The former Florida Gator shot 67-71-66-64 to pick up his first career win in 2013 by one. He made three of five cuts overall from 2012 to 2016.

The 24-year-old Burns was rolling early in 2021 with four straight top-40s including third at the Genesis Invitational. He’s come close to his first PGA Tour win after a successful college career at LSU. Burns was down bad with three straight missed cuts recently before taking T-39th last week at the RBC Heritage. That could be the spark he needs to resume his previous form that also helped him to a couple top-10s in the fall.
