Four top-20s in six starts at the Valspar Championship and a good showing last week alongside Charl Schwartzel are the main reasons to be high on Louis Oosthuizen this week.

We’ll go in order.

First, King Louis has taken a liking to the Copperhead course.

He debuted at Innisbrook in 2012 with a respectable T-20th (73-68-68-68) finish. A couple missed cuts in 2013 and 2015 gave way to fine form again in 2016 (T-7th, 72-70-70-70), 2018 (T-16th, 71-69-69-72) and 2019 (T-2nd, 70-66-68-72).

Looking at Oosthuizen’s recent form shows second place last week with fellow South African Charl Schwartzel at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. It was a good spark for Oosthuizen, who hasn’t missed a stroke play cut all year but has also not been his sharpest.

Oosthuizen will, however, have to get over his tee ball in the water on the par-5 18th that cost them on the opening playoff hole.

“Disappointed, but I felt we played well, gave ourselves loads of opportunities,” Oosthuizen was transcribed by ASAP Sports. “Alternate shot’s always a tough format. But we have a third here. We have a second. I feel next time we’ll come back and get the first.”Oosthuizen was T-11th in Phoenix and T-6th at Concession before missing the top 25 his next three times out.

The 38-year-old was outside the top 100 in strokes gained putting a few seasons ago. Oosthuizen’s now sixth at .785 per round. He’s top 75 in all SG categories, which has him all the way up to fifth in total SG (1.703).
