Daniel Berger hasn’t made a ton of noise in the last few weeks, but he’s definitely not far from winning again.

The 28-year-old Floridian already grabbed one trophy this year at Pebble Beach. Since then in five starts his best start is T-9th at the Players Championship. The glass half full shows he’s still made two of three cuts and a T-13th at the RBC Heritage pays pretty well.

He was a sudden death playoff away from getting out of pool play at the WGC-Match Play.

Berger comes into this week well rested. The Heritage was his last event three weeks ago.

From what I gather, he’s a newcomer to TPC Craig Ranch. His brief sojourn on the Korn Ferry Tour came after the course last host the KFT Tour Championship in 2012.

Berger is a daily fantasy player’s dream in that he rarely throws out a horrid round. When he misses a rare cut, he’s usually just one or two shots off the number.

Berger is 17th on the PGA Tour in scoring average (70.108). That’s not for a lack of aggression, either. I think low scores are going to be aplenty this week, so birdies are a must. Berger’s fifth at 4.52 per round.

He’s not the longest guy on Tour but can hit it far enough to contend on most layouts.

The former Florida State Seminole ranks 30th in strokes gained off the tee (.389), 23rd in SG approach (.55) and 18th in SG putting (.571).

Outside of your Brysons, JTs and Rahms of the world, Berger is right there in that second group of players who will be favorites to win next week’s PGA Championship.

Berger is a winner in Texas before at the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge at He also has two fifth-place finishes at the Houston Open.
