There are the favorites to win and sleeper picks for the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge. Then there is FORE Right, a pick farther away from the fairway than most.

It’s been a rough beginning to the FORE Right weekly article. Of course the entire point of it was to attempt to pick someone far out there anyway. This week we head to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas for the 2021 Charles Swab Challenge.

By now most of you know how this works. For the newbies to the article this is how it works. We do some guess work, we so some homework, and we watch each week. The favorites to win are the same as a drive down the middle of the fairway. The sleepers are the same as a drive just off the fairway in the first cut. Then there is FORE Right! It’s letting everyone know to look out, because you never know.

Last week I mentioned how I looked extra hard and wavered back and forth, and ultimately it did me no good as another selection didn’t even make the cut. This week, we went with a somewhat hot hand type golfer and a lot of gut instinct on my part to try to turn the tides.

Say hello to this week’s FORE Right pick! The 28 year old Argentina native Emiliano Grillo. Although he only has one PGA Tour win which was at the Frys.com Open back in the 2016 season, he has played some very good golf this season and looks primed to make a run at this week’s Charles Swab Challenge. Grillo is sitting at 41st in the FedEx Cup standings and 76th in the Official World Golf Rankings currently.

I’ve decided to pick Emiliano Grillo this time around because he’s been consistent all while having a pretty good year. He has competed in 21 tournaments thus far in the 2021 season. With 16 cuts made and only 5 missed cuts, that’s a solid season for a golfer outside the top 50. Grillo has a 2nd place finish this season at the RBC Heritage, three top ten finishes, and another nine top 25 finishes this season on Tour. Last week he finished tied for 38th at the very difficult PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.

A good year for him could turn even better with a win this week and making the cut or even finishing in the top five or ten could help boost the FORE Right weekly article to a place I’ve yet to see it go as we are now four weeks into it. FORE Right! Heads up, because here comes Emiliano Grillo…we think. We hope.
