Jordan Spieth hasn’t won at Muirfield Village, but four top-20s in seven starts is nothing to sneeze at. The Texan finished T-3rd (68-70-72-65) at the 2015 Memorial Tournament where his 7-under final round was the low score of the day and brought him to within two shots of a playoff. Spieth has just one missed cut at this course at the 2020 Workday Championship.

His slump from 2018-2020 has given way to an elite 2021. Spieth won his first even since 2017 at the Texas Open and owns seven more top-10s.

You’d think he’d have more trophies to show for it as he was right in the mix in several other spots, including last week at Colonial where he settled for second after owning a one-shot lead. He and Jason Kokrak maintained their gap from the rest of the field, though Spieth fought his swing on Sunday to settle for solo second.

“I’ve been striking the ball beautifully this year and I just have to hit the reset button tomorrow and get to work the next couple days and not let this weekend throw me away, and look at the positives of the ball-striking and look at the positives of the putting,” Spieth was quoted by ASAP Sports on Sunday.

There was still a lot of good to take away from the Charles Schwab Challenge where he opened in 63-66-66. Spieth ranked fourth in strokes gained putting (1.78) despite being in the negative in the final round. He was better off the tee than most weeks, finishing 16th in SG (.562).

On the season, the 27-year-old ranks 125th on the PGA Tour in SG off the tee. He’s otherwise thriving at 20th in SG approach (.594) and eighth in SG around the green (.457). If scoring conditions are favorable for low numbers, Spieth is eighth in par breakers (25.19%).
