Harris English was the epitome of consistency in 2020. A resurgent year for the Georgian that saw him make nine straight cuts and 11 of 12 at one point finally culminated in a win to open 2021 at the Tournament of Champions. The victory in Hawaii was a cool moment for a guy who battled back from some slumps to get his first trophy since 2013.

English came back to earth a bit after Kapalua with two missed cuts and no top-30s in his next four starts.

The former Georgia Bulldog is rallying once again with five made cuts in his last six stroke play events. English picked up three top-30s in that span, including T-13th last month at the AT&T Byron Nelson. A Saturday 63 was one off the low round of the tournament and his best score of the season.

He also made the cut at another sandy, South Carolina layout in Kiawah Island.

The 31-year-old ranks 36th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting (.4). He’s been above average in all other categories. English is 10th in birdie average (4.38) and seventh in par-5 scoring (4.5). Too bad there are only three par-5s on the card at Congaree.

He’s looking to get some more quality reps at the Palmetto Championship before the U.S. Open, which has been English’s best major over the years.

Look for him to be a sneaky good dark horse pick for Torrey Pines. English is 5-for-5 making the cut at the U.S. Open and posted a career best solo fourth last year at Winged Foot.
