Each week on the PGA Tour, there are players who do better than expected and others who fall short of expectations. Here at Pro Golf Now, we call them winners and losers. Here are the winners and losers from this week’s event, the 2021 Travelers Championship.

Winners

Harris English – It took him eight playoff holes, but English won for the second time this season and the fourth time in his PGA Tour career. He shot 65 on Sunday to get into the playoff, then won an epic battle to claim the crown.

Kramer Hickok – What a huge week for Hickok in Connecticut. He did everything except win. He led on Thursday, hung in all week long and ultimately lost in one of the longest sudden death playoffs in tour history. Despite coming up short, it was still the best finish of his PGA Tour career.

Marc Leishman – A former winner of this event, Leishman was not really heard from until a charge on Sunday. He took the clubhouse lead at 12-under par and eventually finished alone in third place, after starting Sunday in 17th.

Abraham Ancer – Another player who made a big move on Sunday, Ancer shot a 5-under par 65 to jump from 17th place into solo fourth. He’s also now 16th in the FedEx Cup standings. Ancer remains one of the up-and-comers on the PGA Tour.

Hank Lebioda – He finished T5, tying the second-best finish of his career. In the process, he picked up 27 spots in the FedEx Cup standings. That’s a big week for a player like Lebioda, who is hoping to simply make the playoffs.

Losers

Bubba Watson – Playing at a place where he’s won three times before, Watson seemed to have a fourth title in his sights. But a bogey-bogey-bogey-double bogey-bogey finish dropped him from first to a tie for 19th place.

Rickie Fowler – After shooting a 1-under par 69 on Thursday, Fowler was really bad on Friday, shooting a 5-over par 75. He missed the cut in an event where he should have been in contention to win. It’s a troubling trend for Fowler and one that doesn’t seem to be coming to an end.

Tony Finau – Speaking of continuing struggles, Finau definitely fits in that category. He shot a 76 on Thursday, ending any hopes he had of making the cut. Even a 67 on Friday was not enough to get Finau to the weekend.

Matthew Wolff – After playing well last week at the U.S. Open, Wolff could not carry the momentum into this week. He opened with a 76 on Thursday, taking him out of contention to make the cut. He did bounce back with a 69 on Friday but it was too little, too late.

Dustin Johnson – A very nice 65 on Saturday got DJ in position to make a run on Sunday. Instead, he never got anything going, eventually tying for 25th place.
