We all know Jason Kokrak to be one of the PGA Tour’s biggest bombers. It’s not a misnomer.

The Xavier alum is 22nd in strokes gained off the tee (.447).

But did you know he’s statistically an even better putter this season? Kokrak comes in at second in SG putting (.842), only behind Louis Oosthuizen (1.062).

For someone who was routinely outside the top 100, this is a big development. It’s what helped Kokrak win his first PGA Tour event last fall at the CJ Cup and again this spring at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Kokrak’s streak of 10 worldwide stroke play cuts made in a row ended in his last start to the U.S. Open. Prior in 2021, he recorded four top-10s.

This is the 36-year-old’s second Rocket Mortgage Classic appearance. He recorded 66-71-68-71 for T-29th in 2019.

“You know, if you can drive it straight on this golf course, as long as I am, you can really take advantage of the par 5s,” Kokrak was quoted by Tee Scripts in 2019 about Detroit Golf Club. “You’ve got a lot of wedges in to the par 4s. If you leave it on the right side, you’ve got to be fairly aggressive with these pin placements. If you miss it on the wrong side pin high, it could be a tough two-putt.”

Kokrak is 12th in birdie average (4.27).

A win this week would make him the first three-time winner this season. Just like we all expected.
