Patrick Reed has played steadily all year. He won early in 2021 at the Farmers Insurance Open and picked up four more top-10s since.

The 30-year-old is trending toward picking up his second win of the 2020-21 season and 10th of his PGA Tour career.

Reed comes to Detroit Golf Club playing for the third straight week.

He posted T-19th at the U.S. Open and T-25th at the Travelers Championship. Reed shot four rounds of par or better in Connecticut and if not for an usually bad putting week (73rd in strokes gained), he would’ve contended. The Augusta State alum was fifth in the field in strokes gained tee to green (1.95).

This is what Reed had to say when asked in 2019 what about DGC suits his game:

“I think the biggest thing is it’s a shot-making golf course,” Reed was quoted by Tee Scripts. “You have to work the ball both ways, you can flight it, take it up in the air. There’s a bunch of different shots, especially when the wind blows, that you have to play. It’s not just see a number, hit a number. You have to use the contours of the greens, use the wind in a bunch of different areas. I love being creative and having to work the ball around. A place like this kind of suits me and I feel real comfortable over the ball.”

Reed played well in the Motor City in 2019. The Texan fired rounds of 68-68-65-70 to finish T-5th.

He missed the cut at the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic but was only two away from the weekend with rounds of 70-72. It was his fourth tournament in a row at the time.

Reed ranks 16th on the PGA Tour in SG around the green (.389) and eighth in SG putting (.709).
