The John Deere Classic has treated Brian Harman about as well as any tournament on the schedule.

The highlight of course was his first of two PGA Tour wins coming here in 2014. Harman fired 63-68-65-66 to win by one shot over second place and three over third place.

Overall, the former Georgia Bulldog is 5-for-7 making the cut at TPC Deere Run. All five weekends resulted in T-26th or better.

It’s a good spot for a shorter hitter who hits tons of fairways and greens. Length can help in certain spots, but it’s not a requisite to shoot low scores here.

“I like that it’s in this part of the country. I enjoy this part of the country,” the Georgian was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2014. “It’s a great golf course. It’s always in really good shape, so I enjoy that, too. It fits my eye. Most of the holes fit my eye, so I enjoy that.”

The 34-year-old ranks 13th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting (.591), 25th in SG around the green (.332) and 35th in fairway accuracy (66.28%).

Harman’s a grinder and rarely tosses out a high number. He’s ninth in scoring average and among the select few at sub-70 (69.941).

Harman comes off a week of rest following an extended stretch of great golf. He still seeks his first win since 2017, but he’s come close with five top-10s in 2021 and just one missed cut at a bomber’s paradise at the U.S. Open.

Harman’s recorded a whopping eight top-20s in his last nine starts. This is the weakest field he’ll likely see until the fall, so this is a good time to turn those high finishes into victories.
