Count Russell Henley among those disappointed in the cancelation of the 2020 John Deere Classic.

Henley’s only teed it up twice at the John Deere Classic, but both netted solid paychecks. The former Georgia Bulldog posted T-27th (70-67-68-69) in 2014 and second (64-68-72-61) in 2019.

His 11-shot improvement from Saturday to Sunday netted him the low round of the tournament. Henley nearly came back to win, falling two shots shy of Dylan Frittelli, who posted a Sunday 64.

Henley ranked second in the field in strokes gained approach (1.93) and first in birdies (28).

“I haven’t played here a lot, but it’s a cool course,” Henley was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2019. “It’s fun. There’s a lot of cool shots you hit. It’s beautiful, and it’s run really well. I enjoy being here. It’s a nice place and you get rewarded for hitting good shots.”

The three-time PGA Tour winner seeks his first W since 2017. Recent form shows he’s trending toward No. 4.

He contended for all four days at the U.S. Open before slipping to T-13th on a crowded leaderboard. Henley followed it up a week later with T-19th at the Travelers Championship and arrives to Silvis rested.

Henley has three top-fives and another top-10 in the 2020-21 season. He’s an aggressive player who thrives in birdie fests like this week.

The 32-year-old ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in SG approach (.857). He’s great with short irons. Henley is ninth in proximity from 50-125 yards (16’5”) and second from 125-150 (18’11”).
