While Louis Oosthuizen is making things look easy at the 2021 Open Championship, not everyone had the same experience over the first two days. In fact, many players went in the opposite direction.

Included among those players were a number of big names and former Open champions. Here’s a look at some big names that will not be around for the weekend.

Phil Mickelson – He won the PGA Championship earlier this year, but he had a disaster at the 2021 Open Championship. He shot 80 on Thursday and missed the cut by 12 shots. Not what the 2013 Open winner was hoping to see.

Patrick Cantlay – The highest-ranked player to not make the cut this week. Cantlay was done in by a 74 on Thursday. Even his 69 on Friday could not save him.

Patrick Reed – He played with Rory McIlroy and Cameron Smith this week but Reed never seemed to get a feel for the course this week. His 72-71 finish will leave him home for the weekend.

Tyrrell Hatton – Another Top 10 player who will not make the cut this week. Hatton also showed his temper again on Friday, making an obscene gesture at a fan and breaking a club on his final hole.

Stewart Cink – On Friday, it looked like Cink would make the cut 12 years following his Open win. But on Friday, he shot a 77 to take himself outside the cut line.

Francesco Molinari and Henrik Stenson – A pair of former champions who were seen as longshots to win this week, neither of them will be around for the weekend. Molinari is the more surprising MC of the two.

Darren Clarke and Ernie Els – No one expected these two players to make the cut and they didn’t. No real surprise, just two former Open winners who won’t be around for the weekend.
