Dustin Johnson isn’t ripping off wins like we’ve seen him do time and time again. Twenty-four times, to be exact.

With that said, DJ’s game appears to be in better stead than when he last showed up to the 3M Open.

Fresh off a woeful missed cut at The Memorial Tournament, DJ withdrew at the 2020 3M Open while on pace to missing another weekend.

Johnson went back to the drawing board and wound up a Masters champion come November.

DJ won early in 2021 at the European Tour’s Saudi International, only to lose the mojo again this spring.

The South Carolinian regained some form by finishing T-10th in his home state at the Palmetto Championship in June. That preceded T-19th again in South Carolina the next week at the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island.

Johnson tacked on T-25th at the Travelers Championship and played well on Sunday at The Open to rise to T-8th.

Not the type of golf you want out of a world No. 1, but something tells me it’ll just take one week for everything to click and he’s off to the races again.

TPC Twin Cities appears a good course fit for DJ’s game. Not to mention this is one of the weakest fields he’ll compete against all year.

Johnson can bomb away on most par-4s and par-5s and has the athleticism to muscle it out of the rough to soft, receptive greens.

“I think there’s a variety of shots that you’ve got to hit and there’s a variety of different golf holes,” Johnson assessed TPC Twin Cities in a 2020 Tee Scripts transcription. “We’ve got a couple par-4s that are 500 yards and then we have some really short ones. It’s a lot of fun, the layout is.”

The bearded 37-year-old ranks either 16th or 17th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.523), SG approach (1.159) and SG total (1.329).

Those high-70s, low-80s rounds that crept in last year aren’t really an issue. Johnson is a great DFS asset as he’s second in scoring average (69.73).
