Jordan Spieth is set to compete at Liberty National for the fourth time. He should have fairly positive memories in Jersey City dating back to 2013.

In his first FedEx Cup Playoffs, the newly turned 20-year-old recorded 70-68-68-73 to post T-19th at the 2013 The Barclays. It helped him advance all the way to the Tour Championship.

Spieth returned four years later to represent the red, white and blue at the Presidents Cup. Spieth went 3-1-1 (0-1 singles) to help the Americans obliterate the Internationals.

The former Texas Longhorn finished T-6th at the 2019 The Northern Trust. Spieth shot 67-64-74-67 and was third in the field in strokes gained putting (2.08).

He comes to this year’s The Northern Trust riding an impressive streak of nine top-30s in a row. That includes his first win in four years at the Texas Open and a pair of runner-up finishes at the Charles Schwab Challenge and The Open.

After his game fell off in recent years, Spieth is back to his uber-consistent ways. He hasn’t missed a cut since the Farmers Insurance Open in January.

Spieth has teed it up just once (T-12th, WGC-FedEx St. Jude) since his near miss at Royal St. George’s. He’ll be rested and ready to contend for his second career win in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Spieth ranks seventh on the PGA Tour in birdie average (4.34) and 12th in scoring average (69.832). The putter is trusty at 22nd in SG putting (.493) and sixth in one-putt percentage (42.54%).

If you’re looking for a player to hole a lengthy putt to win on the 72nd hole, Spieth is the guy right now.
